Busanjin Sijang, Busan. 부산진 시장

Day 4 in Busan. Today we are going to visit Taejongdae. Since we need to make an interchange at Busanjin Sijang for bus no.101, we also visit Busanjin Sijang before taking the bus to Youngdo. Busanjin Sijang is famous for specialized necessary items for wedding and marriage life - from hanbok, shoes, bedding, to bride's gift to in law etc. Also a wholesale market that selling everything related to clothing such as fabric, textile, tailor materials, accessories, Korean traditional costume and household items for living, funeral, ancestors prayer and other occasions. Basically everything about Korean's living from birth to death items all can be get here. 









That's silkworm pupae called 번데기 Beondegi. A common snack for Busan people. Normally streamed or boiled before eaten. Oppa said he ate that a lot when he was young, and it is good source of protein. This morning market stretch along the walkway outside of Busanjin Sijang building mostly are old ladies selling seasonal fruits, veggies and kimchi side dishes. From here, you can see beautiful Hanbook that display at the building large window frame. 

The price for a woman’s Hanbok generally begins at 150,000 won for both the top and bottom. While man’s Hanbok begins somewhere in the range of 150,000~300,000 won including the top, bottom, vest, and coat. Price is vary depending on the embroidery and material. The more elaborate the embroidery and fine quality of material, the more the price increases. Children’s Hanbok is popular for its relatively affordable price.





Inside the Busanjin Market - it has about 400 stores inside this 5 storey building. The small stores are divided by piece of wall in between with name of the store display at the small signboard above the ceiling. Ground floor and 1st floor mainly selling Korean traditional items from clothes (hanbok, robe& it's accessories), fabrics, home deco (bed clothes, quilts, curtain, folding screen), handicrafts, knots and etc. 

2nd floor and 3rd floor selling modern living wear and hanbok for men, women and kids; from underwear, sportswear, dress, working uniform, shoes and bags and accessories. 4th floor is office, parking lots and amenities. An interesting place to visit and discover of Korean cultures and tradition. Do spare more time here if you wish to explore further. The market open from 7am till 7.30pm. Closed every 1st and 3rd Sunday.













How to get there:
Take Busan Metro Line 1 to Boemil-dong Station - Exit no.1 - head straight and walk about 5 mins to reach Busanjin Market.

Or, from Busan Station, take bus no.167, 40, 43, 101, 134 to Busanjin Market
