Last coffee in Busan~ Compose Coffee 컴포즈 커피

Last day in Busan. Early this morning, after sent off relatives to Gimhae Airport, instead of take taxi home, I suggest to take Busan Metro so I could take a glance of some the districts (outskirts of Busan) that I never visit before. Begin from Gimhae Airport, we first take the LRT where we able to see the view from train window for several numbers of station. Until we transit at Daejeo for Metro Line 3 and metro (train) started to go underground all the way until we reach Yeonsan metro station. 

After arrived Yeonsan station, I quickly grab my last a-coffee-a-day in Busan before head home. This is another 2,500 won caffe latte from another Busan coffee chain named Compose Coffee 컴포즈커피. Established around the same time as when cheap and affordable take-out coffee culture started in 2015. This branch that I get my compose coffee is in Yeonsan. Up to today they have around 150+ chains all over Korea and continue to expand. Can't believe a month long break in Busan end just in a blink of eyes. I am glad that I've been travelled a lot, see a lot and eat a lot again during this trip.

Texas street, Busan

In Choryang-dong, opposite the Busan Station, there is this "Texas Street" known as red light district, just one street away from Busan Chinatown. During the 1940-50s, this area was setup up as an entertainment area to cater the needs of Americans soldiers and foreign ship crews. During the day time, it seems like a normal commercial district that serve foreigners and foreign sailors. However, at night after shop closed, it turn into night life districts with nightclubs and hostess bars open. I was told that this area has a lot of local Busan Russian population, therefore the business are cater for the Russians as well. You may tell from the signboards as it has Russian word on it. Not recommended to visit Texas street alone at night, especially for ladies, since it is a "red-light district". However day time is fine to visit around just like what we did. As we are here on Monday, which is a common rest day for the Korean businesses. Majority of the shops are closed and not operating. Including Chinatown.

Third visit to Taejongdae, Busan 부산 태종대

From Oryukdo skywalk, we continue to head down to Yongdo for Taejongdae~ our 4th stop. It's my 3rd time here. I've been very familiar with it but still it's one of my most favourite place to visit in Busan. As there's high wave and strong wind since morning at Haedong Yonggungsa due to typhoon lan, we expected the same situation here in Taejongdae since our destination is Sinseon Rock. Turns out, Sinseon-rock (the cliff) is closed and not allow to be access as it poses a high risk from the strong wind ... that's too bad. Nevertheless, the view from observatory is still magnificent but also hard to take nice picture as hair keep messed up by the strong wind lol.

Oryukdo Skywalk, Busan 부산 오륙도 스카이워크

After Haedong Yonggungsa, we head down to Namgu to experience the Oryukdo skywalk~ our 3rd stop. Oryukdo Skywalk is built on the edge of rock cliff. It has transparent glass walk passage in U shape where we could see thru what is under our feet when we are walking on the cliff towards the sea. The skywalk is free of charge and there are staff-in-charge take care of visitors and control the crowds. It's quite thrill to walk on the glass plate especially when it is closest to the sea. I've seen Oryukdo from far many times in Haeundae. Seeing it so closely here is first time.

Oryukdo - also known as Five-Six Island, is a group of rocky island at the south sea and east sea; where 5 islands can be seen at low tide and 6 islands at high tide. The island closest to the mainland - Usak-do is the one that can be appear to be two separate islands during high tide. The two islands also known as Bangpae-seom and Sol-seom. While the other 4 islands follow by it's distance closest to mainland after Usak-do are uri-seom, Songgot-seom Gul-seom and Deungdae-seom. All islands are uninhabited except for Deungdaeseom, which has Oryukdo Lighthouse on it. The Lighthouse serves as a gateway to Busan-hang (Busan Port) where ships entering Busan must pass by here.

Second visit to Haedong Yonggungsa, Busan 부산 해동용궁사

From Dalmaji, we drove along the Dalmaji-gil - Haeundaero to Dong-Busan then Gijang for our next destination Haedong Yonggungsa~ our 2nd stop. Not my first visit here at this Buddhist temple built by the sea. So I am not going to write more about the temple in this post. As mentioned Tyhoon Lan has passed by Busan yesterday before reach Japan, tall and strong wave strike the beaches in Busan. We experience super strong wave and strong wind when we are here at Haedong Yonggungsa today. You can see tall wave from the picture I've taken at below. It seems quite dangerous to go near the sea especially where the Haesu Gwaneum Daebul (Sea water Great Goddess Buddha) located. So we just stay away from seaside. There are visitors who are not afraid, risk themselves and walk over to take photos there.
