Birthday treat with Peranakan Cuisine~ UES Siew Tin Nyonya Kitchen, Melaka

January 2025. An early birthday treat for me from my family in Melaka. My family is here in Kuala Lumpur, spending Chinese new year together as usual. On the second day of Chinese New Year, we drove down to Melaka for a day trip and enjoyed some Peranakan cuisine as lunch as my early birthday treat. We called the restaurant to ensure they were open for business, as many restaurants (especially Chinese restaurants) close during the Chinese new year holiday. Since there are eight of us, we also went ahead and reserved a table.

Since their main branch at Jonker Walk is closed for business during the CNY, we visited their branch at Taman Kota Laksamana, which is just a 2.6km drive away. As expected, the restaurant was packed with customers. However, the food was served within a reasonable time and the service was attentive.

For appetizers, we ordered the Golden Pillow and Pie Tee. The lady boss recommended that we try the Butterfly Pea Lemongrass Tea, which is rich in antioxidants, promotes skin and hair health, soothes the digestive system, and reduces inflammation.

Followed by the Nyonya Cendol and Sago Gula Melaka as desserts to wrap up the meal. we had a good time enjoying delicious Nyonya food for lunch.
