서울기사식당~ Seoul Kisa Sikdang, Desa Sri Hartamas

October 2025. We found another good Korean BBQ place in Desa Sri Hartamas. It was their first day operating on Halloween when we walked past, had a look, and decided to give it a try. We ordered the Kisa set, which is meant for 2 pax. It comes with 250g Pork belly + 250g Pork neck 250g, an array of reliable banchan and a serving of tteokbokki. Everything is good and serving portion is huge, it can feed more than 2 people in my personal opinion. Their meat is first charcoal seared, before grilled on our table so that the meat can retain its juicy and smoky flavour. The staff grilled the meat really nicely! What makes their BBQ so special is that garlic shoot and minari are grilled along with the meat and to be eaten together. I don't remember if I ever tried this combination before and I love it! We also found out that they served Boksosa (Bokbunja + Soju + Soda), Maksa (Makgeolli + Soda) and their signature highball. As we had no plans to drink that night, we'll kept it for the next visit. In case you don't know, Kisa Sikdang is driver restaurants in Korea that offer fast, affordable, and filling home-style meals to taxi drives since the 1980s. Serving baekban (rice, stew and various side dishes) and generous portions of meat dishes such as grilled pork, bulgogi, spicy stir fried pork or squid. Oh by the way, don't forget to enjoy a cup of free Korean mixed coffee from the coffee machine that hardly find in Malaysia's Korean restaurants.

Jajangmyeon, Jjamppong & Tangsuyuk~ Hong Kong Ban Jeom, Sunway 163 Mall

October 2025. A birthday lunch treat from me to my brother. Initially, we met up at Sunway 163, planning to have Korean BBQ at 1 Mont Kiara. But my brother chose Hong Kong Ban Jeom, the other option I suggested, since he had already tried the Korean BBQ. While we were crossing over to 1 Mont Kiara before heading back to Sunway 163 for Hong Kong Ban Jeom, we saw someone we did not wish to see not far ahead of us. I think my brother saw it too, but he just pretended that he didn't see it, just like I did. Anyway, bro had Korean Chinese Cuisine before, but not at this Hong Kong Banjeom. I order the Set Menu No. 2 (RM88) which includes Jajangmyeon, Jjampping and Tangsuyuk for us. The portion seemed huge for 2 pax, but surprisingly it nicely filled our tummies. We even had llaollao yogurt ice cream for dessert after the meal. Oh, if you are looking for Korean Chinese cuisine in Mont Kiara (e.g., Jajangmyeon, Jjamppong, and Tangsuyuk), Hong Kong Ban Jeom is the right place. The other options nearby would be the long-established Buldojang at Desa Sri Hartamas, and the newbie that joined in 2023, Zui Long, at Solaris Mont Kiara.
