Pasta for dinner~ Bens, Suria KLCC

Traffic jam badly after work, decided to turn into Suria KLCC and have dinner first before go home. End up went over to Bens for pasta. I've been to Bens Publika and Bens Penang, first time here to Bens KLCC. The ambient is quite cozy, wanted the sofa seats next to the window but it is not available when we walked-in. So waiter let us have a table closer to the window and still able to look at the view outside. I had Seafood Marinara Spaghettini and he go for Hot'n'Spicy Seafood Spagettini. The waiter has warned him that the pasta could be too spicy for him to handle, so he ask to reduce the spiciness. Still he find it over spicy and say he will stop eating spicy from now on. Okay, I've been hearing that for years. Lets see when will that happen.

Pasta & Pizza Splurge~ Porto Romano, The Intermark

My lunch buddy and I love pasta and pizza. We'll splurge a little for our lunch once in a while or when we feel like want to distress. Porto Romano is one of our favourite place for pasta and pizza in our office building. Funny is, there's one Porto Romano in my neighbourhood too, but I only went once. Our most favourite orders so far are Spaghetti al Salmone, Spaghetti alla Bolognese and Pizza con Quattro Formaggi.

My Forty-One birthday~ Two Sons Bistro, The Starling Mall

Celebrate my 41 b'day with a meal at Two Sons this year. We had mussels with chili butter cream (weight approx. 900gram), 2 sets of garlic breads, a pasta carbonara and flat white. The mussels dish itself serve along with garlic breads. Since I have seafood allergy and I can't touch the mussels, I order one more garlic bread to enjoy the creamy gravy. Two Sons has a branch in Publika. Wonder why I didn't see it when I drive thru?

Tteokbokki & Omuk~ Sukdduck, Solaris Mont Kiara

This Tteokbokki franchise from Korea named Seokgwan-dong Tteokbokki, short-form SukDduck. Open somewhere around last year in Solaris Mont Kiara. Just two doors away from Kim's Mart. Seokgwan-dong is a name of a neighbourhood in Seongbuk-gu, Seoul. I guess this tteokbokki could be origin from Seokgwan-dong? Anyway, we order the mains and sides separately instead of going for the sets, as our preferred combination is Soupy Topokki, Fish Cake Platter, Crunchy Tempura Set and Spicy Chewy Noodle.

The soupy tteokbokki is above our expectation. We like the soft yet chewy tteok which is thinner than average size rice cake and the spicy soupy broth. However, the Fish Ball Platter is rather disappointing. The omuk are overboil, the texture became too soft and tasteless. The seasoning sauce that served along unable to improvise the taste so we end up throwing all the fish cake into the soupy topokki. Deep fried stuff is always good to eat along by dipping into tteokbokki sauce. The Crunchy Tempura Set has deep fried dumplings, deep fried squid, deep fried shrimp, Kimmari (seaweed rolls) and sweet potato slice.

It's good thing that we order Jjolmeyon as an extra. Their Jjolmyeon is delicious too. Jjolmyeon is spicy chewy wheat noodles served chilled in a spicy, sweet and sour sauce with shredded vegetables. The sauce plays an important role to determine the taste of this dish. Their jjolmyeon has a nice ratio of combination for the sauce. Overall we spent RM77 in total - no service charge incurred but only cash is acceptable for the payment. It is not cheap yet it is not expensive if you looking for an authentic taste of tteokbokki.
