仰光道凉茶~ Ragoon Road Herbal Tea, Penang

Back to Penang~ after dinner at Big Crab, we came to town for Chinese herbal tea at Ragoon Road since my nephew is coughing. I call this Chinese herbal tea stall house in a van as liang teh at Lai Lai Supermarket though Lai Lai Supermarket closed down long time ago. I lost count how long I have not been here for herbal tea~ Those days whenever I feel "heaty", have flu cough or sore throat~ I always came here bitter tea 苦茶 with extra Chinese traditional medicinal powder and it works on me like magic! Just tell the stall owner your health condition and he will recommenced what type of herbal tea you need. I can't find such bitter tea in KL that works on me in KL however I do go to Tan Ngan Lo or Koong Woh Tong as substitute. They also have bitter tea that can required add extra medicinal powder; but not every time works like charm for me like the one at Ragoon rd.

60 Years Old Cantonese Restaurant~ 梅忠记 Boey Chong Kee, Penang

This is a dinner where we waited from sky bright until it turns dark (before and after sunset) only our order is served. Since we already knew that there will be long waiting time for the food and the tables~ all the Penang-lang here (8 adults + 6 kids = 2 tables) willing to wait to try this old school Cantonese dishes from this more than 60 years old restaurant located at ground floor of the People's court - one of the earliest low-cost flat in 1961 in Lebuh Cintra. What we order are steamed fish, stir fried beef with kailan, stir fried chicken with oyster sauce, prawn fritters, braised pork ribs with black bean paste, stir fried beef with ginger and spring onions, and stew ginger duck. I can see why the waiting time is long as the chef cooks by order and by table. Even there's repeat order, he won't cook the dish all in once and serve whatever is cook first. That explained why every table needs to wait at least half  to an hour. But, when our food is served, its all come out at once and it is still hot! No regrets for the long waits! In fact I a little regrets that I find out this place too late. Hopefully next time when I come back I have the time to wait again to try other Cantonese dishes.

Hangout with bestie at the beach~ Pantai Teluk Bayu, Teluk Kumbar

Second day after back to Penang, finally meet up with bestie after we never meet nearly 4 years due to covid pandemic and lockdowns. We hangout at the beach after breakfast~ since that's what I want to do when I am back! She brought me to this slightly secluded yet beautiful beach at Teluk Kumbar~ Pantai Teluk Bayu to relax~ Looking at the blue blue sky and blue blue sea, brings back a lot of memories of those good old days we spent at beach over the weekends when I still living in Penang. Two siao cha bo (Two of us) have fun taking photos together and bestie even felt off from the seaside rock fence and having minor scratch on her knee due to over-excited (omg)!

ST Loo Beef Koay Teow & Crispy fried Oyster Omelette~ OO White Coffee, Carnarvon Street

April 2022. Back to Penang for a short break! After pick me up from airport, sis and bil bring me straight to OO White Coffee at Carnarvon Street for our favourite Gu bak koay teow (beef noodle soup) that used to be located at Lam Ah Coffeeshop, intersection of Beach Street and Chulia Street. We called the coffeeshop "bomba dui-bin" (which means opposite the fire station in Hokkien) as it is located right opposite the Beach St Fire Station. It's a long long long long time since I last had their Gu bak koay teow so I didn't know that they have moved to current address at Carnarvon St since 2015.

The crispy oh-chien stall that relocated along with the beef koay teow to Carnarvon St is really a pleasant surprise for me~ cuz I have no idea bout this crispy oh chien (oyster omelette) until today. Fall in love with the crispy thin crust egg batter fritters, with the nicely cook oyster that burst juice in mouth. OMG! Somebody please tell me if I can find this in KL too! Apparently before this crispy oh chien stall moved to Lam Ah Coffeeshop, it's already famous when it was at New World Park. However, finding parking here is still a pain just like when they were at Beach st / Chulia st lol. Since we are here at OO white coffee, off course I cannot miss out to try the kopi! Mine is Kopi C Kosong peng (Iced coffee with Carnation evaporated creamer but no sugar)~ it is kaw and good!

A last minute stay~ Park Avenue Hotel, Sungai Petani

July 2020. An old established hotel in SP that we choose to stay for a night very last minute due to the new hotel in town that we booked has suicide case happen just before our arrival. The room interior still looks the same as 15 years ago (if I don't remember wrongly) in my first visit. Despite looks old fashion everything is maintaining well and clean. The window view definitely compensate everything~ beautiful Gunung Jerai view right in front from the room window.

Last visit to Penang State Museum

January 2017. After coffee with besties at Constant Gardener, since I still have some times until he done his appointment and pick me up; I decided to walk over to Penang Museum for a short visit. Despite been here numerous time, I still find it interesting and Nyonya room is one of my favourite section. I am so glad that I drop by here today, as the museum is going to close down for a long time for renovation in April. These photos taken going to the precious memory of Old Penang Museum. Look forward for the new face of Penang Museum when I am back again for visit.
