Grass Fed Ribeye Steak~ Las Vacas, Shoplex Mont' Kiara

An unforgettable evening for us on his bday due to our car broke down. Our car ran thru a pothole near Jalan Kuching, tremble so hard and "Check Engine" sign turns on. Not sure what to do, we continue driving home since the car still running well. And home is just less than 10 mins away. Count ourselves blessed, the car broke down right after entered into our condo's multi-level carpark and near to our parking lot! Still, it needs 3 of the condo security guards helped to push the car into our parking lot so it won't obstruct the traffic. Contacted the 24hours road assist, an on-call technician were dispatched over to check what's the problem. Long story short, the engine is overheating due to radiator cap cracked. Car needs to be tow to nearest service centre for repair tomorrow. Tired and hungry, spent almost 3 hours for this incident. We just walk over to Las Vacas at Shoplex MK for steak, as his birthday dinner.

Las Vacas is a restaurant with butchery inside, selling beefs and also steaks. You can buy the meats home, or may also dine in with the meat cut you liked by paying a cooking fee to get it cook. The first shop is open in Kelana Jaya. while Mont' Kiara is their branch opened around 2010. For dine-in, there's a minimum weight required for the beef. Cooking charge is RM10 for each where it comes together with two extra sides - fresh garden salad and garlic bread. We go for Grass Fed Ribeye Medium Rare, weight approx 500gm, so it's 250gm each for two of us. Grilled and seasoned with black pepper and salt. Steaks are good, just a little stuffy as we are sitting at an outdoor but it's between the slope and restaurant and it's not so airy. The cappuccino I order has the thickest foam of all the cappuccino I ever had haha! The total amount is RM118 which includes cooking fee, cappuccino, bottled fruit drinks & service charge. Price consider reasonable for the quality meat.

German Butchers Platter ~ Ingolf's Kneipe German Restaurant & Bar, Tanjung Bungah

We went back to Penang on a weekend for short business trip. I recall a friend of mine recently posted a picture of having this butchers platter at Ingolf's Kneipe German Restaurant in Facebook, so tempting! So we decided to go for a dinner at Ingolf's after we finish our jobs since we are staying at a nearby hotel. We were sitting at first floor. Downstairs was fully occupied since it is dinner time. In the past when we still living in Penang, there were few times we came here for lunch but found out that they were closed due to shortage of staff. Or need to wait for table for more than half an hour due to full house. Thank God this time they were open and there are seats available without making reservation.

We order the German Butchers Platter (which can be serve for 2 or 3 pax) ~ consists of chicken, country and pork sausage, roasted pork belly (one piece each), two nuernbergers and chipolatas, grilled turkey bacon, ham, pork chop, pork patties, chicken meatloaf, served with sauerkraut, crispy criss cut potatoes, onion sauce and mustard. When the platter served, we were like OMG! It is really huge portion for 2-3 pax. Luckily I stop him from order an extra salad earlier! still, in the end, we ask to take-away almost half of the portion as our supper. But we never take it as supper that night, too much meat in our stomach lol~ We end up giving away to someone who doesn't mind to reheat it for meal later.
