주가앤쿡~ Ju Ga & Cook, Plaza Damas

This little Korean restaurant tuck inside Plaza Damas closed earlier compare to other Korean restaurants - Closed daily 8pm (Monday - Saturday / Sunday closed) and last order time is 7.30pm. Therefore I never get to try even though I know their existence for more than 3 to 4 years. One of the few Korean restaurants in the neighbourfood selling various Korean side dishes. At last we get to try it today since we are here at Plaza Damas around 6.30pm and Ju ga & cook still open. Order a Deulkkae-kalguksu~ Knife-cut noodle soup with perilla seeds which is a rare find especially Korean restaurants in town, taste same as the one I had in Busan before. While the Jeyuk-deopbap (Stir fried pork on rice) is a steal! The amount of stir fried pork given is way more than other similar-priced Jeyuk-deopbap I ever had. Quite satisfy with our meals today. Look forward to be back again for other dish (if I get to be here early for a dinner like today).

Premium Beef Korean BBQ~ HAN Modern Korean Grill, Menara Hap Seng

Blessed December with abundant of good food and good memories. A week before Christmas coming, I have dinner at Han Modern Korean Grill after work with colleague and a guest. Three of us share the family set which consist of all their signature halal certified beef~ marinated beef ribs, boneless prime short ribs, a whole slab of aged steak and beef belly. Just as good as my first time dine-in here before covid pandemic. This place was named "Han Wa Dam Modern Korean Grill" before they renamed it to Han Modern Korean Grill. After covid pandemic end, the restaurant has undergone some renovation and looks more luxury compare to before. Despite it is a pork free Korean BBQ restaurant (well there are quite a numbers of Korean restaurants around KLCC are pork free), the Korean BBQ beef is equally good as non-pork-free Korean BBQ. One of the prime Korean beef BBQ restaurant in KL City Centre.

하남돼지집 말레이시아~ Hanam BBQ, United Point

Hanam BBQ which is known as Hanam Pig in Korea is famous Korean BBQ chain restaurant that has around 200 stores nationwide (in Korea) and this Malaysia branch opened in United Point 2 years ago. After some foodie posted reels about the restaurant and it became viral in social media, the queue is long during meal hours (plus no reservation allowed) so as usual I did not give a try until the craze is over. After they open another outlet in Bamboo Hill, we guess the queue should be not as long as before. So last night we decided to drop by to check it out, spotted no queue outside! However we was told that it's full house so we might need to wait for 15 or 30 mins. Since they have queue system where we will be informed via sms when table is available, we finally give a try.

After obtain a queue number, we go round to checkout other shops in the same floor since it's our first time here to United Point. In just about 5 mins time, I received the SMS notifying about the table is ready. And here's our yummy thick cut Korean BBQ pork. Instead of going for the set, we choose to order ala carte - Samyeopsal pork belly 140g, Hanjungsal - Jowl meat 150g, assorted mushroom and a steamed egg with flying fish roe.

Our meal is truly satisfying! The meat cut is thick however after grill, it does shrink a a little so that's the only part I didn't expect. Their signature condiment~ Kalamansi-wasabi and the veggie for wrap~ Myeong-i-na-mul (wild garlic leaves) is my favourites. Myeong-i namul is commonly served in Korea not just with Korean BBQ but with steamed pork. However I rarely see here in Malaysia therefore I am so happy that I can eat it again with the BBQ pork. Their steamed egg is highly recommended too! Look forward to come back again for other cuts.

BHC Chicken, 163 Retail Park, Mont Kiara

When BHC newly open in Nov 2022 in 163 Retail Park. I've already give a try of their Bburinkle & Hot Bburinkle half & half combo - one of their signature flavours with crunchy crispy fried chicken coated with cheesy veggie flavour seasoning. At that time they only have limited selection~ the Bburinkle series or Retro (classic style) where u can choose spicy or non spicy version. Now happy to see that they have more choices in their menu! It's my belated birthday treat lunch from brother today. So four of us including my parents who just arrived in KL to celebrate CNY with us happily enjoy BHC chickens as our late lunch~ Padak and Macho cheesedak with red king sauce.

It's been more than 8 or 9 years since I last eaten BHC chicken in Korea, but I can tell BHC Chicken in Malaysia is very similar with the BHC Chicken I ate in Korea. Price wise, nowadays it cost RM80 after tax for a whole chicken (3-4 servings average). Sincerely hope they will stay longer in the market, don't get disappear from 163 like Nene (now left only 1 outlet in Wangsa Walk); and the BBQ Chicken that used to be my favourite since they opened in 2008 in Penang (now still have 2 outlets in KL).

Burnt Cheese Fried Rice with Dakgalbi~ Uncle Jang Dakgalbi, Solaris Mont Kiara

Long time never had Dakgalbi at Uncle Jang's. Initially I brought my parents here at Solaris MK for Pork Bone Kimchi Stew at Goheung Kitchen but the place closed today. Parents then chose Dakgalbi when I listed out few options (of Korean restaurants around Solaris MK) for them to choose. Mom still remember first time we had Uncle Jang Dakgalbi was at Ampang 13 years ago! After over a decade, Uncle Jang's Dakgalbi still good! Definitely better than other Dakgalbi chains that we had tried before - especially the kimchi, soup, pickles and greens for the wrap that serve along. Some Dakgalbi chain serve very pathetic sides for wraps which I find it not appetite.

Order 2 servings of Dakgalbi (normal spicy) for 3 us to share, with an extra sides of 1 serving of Ramen to be stir frying together with Dakgalbi at round 1. And another 1 serving of rice and mozzarella cheese for fried rice as round 2. Guess what, the cheese fried rice has improvised to torch burnt mozza cheese! Love the mild burnt cheese smell topped on the fried rice made from the leftovers of Dakgalbi! So satisfying with our dinner tonight. After haven't been here for at least 3-4 years, I notice that not only the place has renovated, the ventilation has improved as well. Now we don't smell like 'Dakgalbi' on our clothes and hair anymore after the meal.
