Morning date with bestie, this time we went to 1 kopitiam and 2 cafes in one morning in Damansara Kim, all located at the same row. We had early breakfast at Golden Kim Wah Kopitiam since the cafes open only after 8am. Most of the food here are good and worth trying that's why we are here! We both choose Penang Hokkien mee since we miss Penang so much; and it is the Penang Hokkien mee taste we familiar with! The stall owner uncle is so generous, he gave us an extra bowl of broth since our broth reduce nearly half after absorb by the beehoon (we both asked for beehoon only). No extra charge, just RM9.50 for a bowl of hearty Hokkien mee!

A morning at 1 kopitiam & 2 cafes~ Golden Kim Wah, Lavie Boulangerie & Universal Bakehouse, Damansara Kim
After breakfast and stroll around the SS20 neighbourhood park behind the shoplots. We came to Lavie Boulangerie, just few doors away from Golden Kim Wah for a cup of latte and cromboloni. I remember that this place was Bakely-la well-known with it's long fermented croissants. After never been here for 2 years, now the name has changed and place also renovated. However the breads and pastries~ croissants, cruffins, crumble danish, kouign-amanns etc all still the same! Let bestie chose what she want~ and she picked the chocolate cromboloni~ a round shaped croissant with creamy chocolate filling. The chocolate filling is not overly sweet, nice to share among two of us. They also served all-day-breakfast, pasta and sandwiches, will come back to try next time when we come to Damansara Kim again!

After hang around for more than an hour and a lot's of talking, we leave Lavie and drop by Universal Bakehouse which is another few doors away to get their signature sourdough home. Very limited seats, only few tables outside and window bar seating with 3 highchairs inside, as it is meant for take-out than dine-in. The old school signage is follow the original design of the previous business in this premises - the Universal Laundry which has been around for 40 years until the owner retired at age 80. New owner decided to keep the name and original design of signage to honour the neighbourhood's legacy. This bakery opens it's door in 2019 is owned by the restaurant next door - Table and Apron.

姐妹茶餐室~ Restoran Jie Mee, Sri Hartamas
My April is full of activities. Started with picnic at a park, cook new dishes for dinners, weekend hikes without a skip for the entire month, received another Bacha coffee (Happy Gianduja) as gift from Sg branch colleague, meetings and meetings, happy reunion with college mate from Indonesia, had meals at those restaurant that I missed including Mak's Chee beef brisket wantan mee, and this Curry Mee from Jie Mee Coffeeshop in the neighborhood that my friend recommending for quite some times. The white broth curry mee before add in chili paste is good! I personally like curry mee with light broth than those with thick curry broth.
The dry curry wantan mee (wantan mee drizzle with curry gravy) is getting more of my attention and I took more bites on it compare to curry mee. (I was here for curry mee actually...haha). From the old newspaper cutting on the wall, we found out that this wantan mee stall run by four sisters previously was in Jalan Batai. They were quite famous around there until the coffeeshop where they are closed down for business. Since then they've moved and open a place here in Hartamas. By the way I been here at Sri Hartamas quite often but I did not notice there's a coffee shop here at all, until my visit at this morning.

Slow walk at TTDI Park & Penang Prawn Mee~ New Yong Len Coffeeshop, TTDI
Feels a little burned out. Decided to take things slow and go for a morning date with bestie. After drop off her daughter to school, we went to TTDI Park for a leisure walk~ a slow one, just half of my usual speed so I barely sweat. TTDI park still as beautiful as my first time visit. Some tree leaves turn red resembled autumn foliage, too bad my iPhone camera can't capture the redness and the feel. After the walk we went to New Yong Len~ a nearby coffeeshop for the must eat Penang Prawn Mee~ and not forget to buy home the Ampang famous Teow Chew Chai Kueh (should be Cheras famous Teow chew chai keuh now since they've moved to Cheras). And that's not the end of our dating, we also stop by nursery to get ourselves plants too and I will be blog in another separate post later.

TokPork Nasi Lemak~ Yum Me Place, Jalan Batai
Happy Friday~ a friend deliver a pack of famous pork nasi lemak from Jalan Batai for me as brunch! I've seen this video about Tok-Pork Nasi Lemak on KL Foodie that has million views! This funny guy decided to sell non halal pork nasi lemak as he was inspired by Village Park Nasi Lemak owner who owns many luxury cars including Phantom and Ferrari (he wanted to have one of those luxury cars too). It's good to have a dream and work hard for it! The Tok Pork Nasi Lemak is RM14.90, served with thick cut fat and tender pork belly where the skin is charred using a torch burner. Pair with the crispy fried onion (I like this the most), curry potatoes, half of hard boiled egg and homemade sambal. So fattening but also so yummy!

Cheapest Penang Curry Mee & Hokkien Mee in town~ Lim Sisters, Taman Sri Bintang
Can you believe that RM4 Curry mee and Hokkien mee still exists today? More unbelievable is the it has everything that a authentic Penang curry mee and Hokkien mee has including the taste of Penang! Portion could be small - I actually finish it in few bites haha. For my neighbour who is a light eater the portion is just nice for breakfast. Look at the 'liao' and you will agree it's value for the money and the waits! Even an extra top-up of cheong for neighbour's hokkien mee just cost a little bit more, not even double of RM4. Besides the cheapest Pg curry mee / Hokkien mee in town, the kopitiam queue and ordering system amazed me too. Patrons needs to queue and wait to be seated at the entrance, the staff will give you a plastic cup with the table number assigned to you once the table is ready. Not to mentioned they strictly follow the control measure of covid pandemic. It's just short driving distance from Mont Kiara. As the koptiam is located at a corner lot of shoplot at the edge of Taman Sri Bintang, Segambut, bordering with Kepong (Kepong primary is next to it); Hence some people might refer it as Lim Sisters Kepong.

溏记海南茶室. Hainam Style Breakfast~ Thong Kee, Pandan Indah, Cheras
It's long weekend and my family is in town visiting us again. Drove all the way to Pandan Indah to try out this famous Hainan Kopitiam originated from Bentong, Pahang for it's signature breakfast and coffee. It is about 20mins away from my place via Sungai Besi highway. Warned you first, Thong Kee is famous among the locals and "outsider" like us. Besides not so easy to find a parking nearby, finding a table is not easy as well.
Parking - We manage to park our vehicle at a public parking lot not far away, then found out that this area is using parking coupon system - which we don't have it and kind of far to walk over to purchase after asked around. So, we park without parking coupon which is not recommended! Suggest to park at the Midpoint Shopping Mall which is just 2 rows behind Thong Kee Cafe.
Table - There's no queue system here for the table, you need to look for an occupied table where the eaters seems like about to finish their meal + nobody is waiting for it, and wait aside until you got the table. We waited quite a while (not very long, maybe 10mins) to get a table of 5. Frankly speaking, I dislike this type of waiting table system as it is all depends on your luck - someone arrive later might get a table before you did.
We had their signature breakfast~ Baked Hainan Bread (Kaya & Butter Toast), Cheese Ham Croissant, half boiled egg as well as the signature drink 1+1 (coffee mix with milk tea in the ratio of 1:1). The half boiled eggs delivered fast. The worker send the eggs inside the steel mug with boiling hot water, ask us to wait for 5 minutes then remove it from mug ourself. The 1+1 was forgotten and after reminder only they deliver and we already finish our meal. So no picture of it.
There are other local food stalls as well with variety of local food such as pork noodle, pan mee, chee cheong fun, hakka mee etc. Bro-in-law had curry chee cheong fun with some sides from one of the stall, sis and me took a few bites, it was delicious! Thong Kee has other branches in PJ and SeaPark which I only found out later - bro in law is the one who decide where to have breakfast so I never check. Should have just go to Sea Park or PJ branch which is nearer than go Pandan Indah.
