January 2010. Day 1 in Busan. Because it is cold out there, after spent some times at Haeundae Beach and freezing cold due to the wind; we decided to visit Busan Aquarium which is just next to Haeundae beach. The entire aquarium is located underground of Haeundae Beach. The main attraction is the under-tunnel shark tank and a 7-meter tall concave tank in the centre of Level B2 and B3. The aquarium has 40 exhibits with a total of 35,000 sea life of about 250 species. Here are some of the photos of the sea life that I think it's interesting or unique.
These Jackass Penguins are one of the main attraction of Busan Aquarium. The penguins are so active and super friendly~ they keep coming close to visitors near to the window including us. We are so lucky to catch the quick feeding show when we were here at this section.
Red Bellied Piranhas are actually the very first batch of fishes we saw upon enter the aquarium. Their face are fierce though they have some cute teeth~ one of the deadliest fish in the world.
And we found these silver arowana looks way more fierce and scary compared to Piranha.
Pig-nosed turtle stand out the most among other turtle species in the aquarium with it's mini nose resembles pig's nose.
Rock pool section displays various invertebrate species from soft corals, sea anemones, jellyfishes, sea urchins, sea stars, sea cucumbers, shrimps, crabs etc. We are allow to touch and feel some of it. Here's my first time touch a sea star!
This boat with transparent glass floor allows the visitor to experience sharks and other sea life up close for about 10 ~ 15 min. We did not go for it as we going to catch the stingray feeding show at 4pm.
Not sure if these shrimps & crabs know they are 'watching' by human? Most of them come close to the window some even facing the window when we look at them. That's how we capture their face with eyes looking at us.
Trigger fish that creep us out with it's human-like mouth with lips and teeth!
No matter how many times we look at this Spotted Snake Eel, it just looks like a snake to us.
This Giant Spider Crab which resemble Snowy crab or King crab must be reminds the Koreans of food. The Korean boy standing next to me was telling his mom the crab looks 맛있겠다 (mat-ssi-ge-da means delicious) lol.
Unlike other jelly fish flowing around, these upside down jellyfish is squirming on the ground like a bean sprout.
Moon Jellyfish is so tiny and transparent, swimming in a circle directions. Only video with zoom in can capture the moon jellyfish well.
And Sea Nettle is close to those common type of jelly fish that we usually found near the beach.
And here comes the highlight of the visit~ Stingray live feeding show at the 7-meter tall concave tank in the centre of level B2 and B3 that house around 160 saltwater species.
Another highlight is this 80-metre 260 ft underwater tunnel Shark tank located at Level B3. Total 12 grey nurse shark is displayed - 4 males and 8 females. It is the largest gray nurse shark captive colony in Korea. It's not easy to take pictures of sharks as they tend to swim very fast.
Just like the penguin, this small Clawed Otter is so friendly and keep swimming upside down when we get close to the glass window~
Meet Nemo~ the Clownfish. Finding nemo is one of my favourite Pixar movies. I watch it more than once~ young clownfish is so tiny than I tot in real.
Lastly, this blackie with red light eyes is freshwater whipray which belongs to stingray family. We spent almost 3 hours here. Never know Aquarium can be so fun.
