July 2006. Our gang's first outing at Pantai Kerachut, Penang National Park. We chartered a boat at the Jetty at Park entrance to bring us to Pantai Kerachut instead of hike there. Picnic near the rocks area next to the sea with the food we bring on our own while a friend try to do fishing and the rest hanging around and chatting non stop lol. Pantai Kerachut is well know as turtle beach as well, as turtle will came here to lay eggs between April to September. There's a turtle hatchery and conservation centre here however no turtle eggs spotted while we are here. Also not miss is the Meromictic Lake~ where the water layers (fresh water and salt water) are not mix. A rare phenomenon that only occurs between May to August and there only three in Asia so far and one of it is in Penang National Park - the only one in Malaysia. After hanging like two hours here, our chartered boat came back to pick up us. Looks like our adventure is not end here, there's watersprouts (water cyclone) spotted on the open sea of Melacca strait when our boat is sailing on the open sea. However boatman told us that the watersprout is still far away so it will be alright until we get back to land. An unforgettable yet great outing for us for the first time in a gang.
