Here and there, in Kuala Lumpur: Korean Marts in Kuala Lumpur & Selangor 말레이시아 한인마트

This post originally created in June 2016 has been updated in April 2021 with new photos, removing of those Korean marts that no longer in operation and added in new Korean marts and Korean grocers in town. The listing sequence is sorted by locations.

1) Seoul Mart, Desa Sri Hartamas 서울마트

The very first Korean mart in Desa Sri Hartamas. It is the first Korean mart I visited in Mont Kiara / Hartamas and it was the Korean Mart that I get most of the Korean food and items I need when I newly relocated here. The mart looks old inside, but it has all the well known and long established brand that Korean use in daily life. The mart is still run by the Korean owner Ajeossi and his family since the day 1. No photos of inside since the owner not allowed it when I asked (I always get permission before take pictures as respect).

2) Lee Mart, Desa Sri Hartamas 이마트

To be honest I have not been here before to purchase something but I did pay a visit when they newly open several years ago. Now it seems like is has became a Korean product wholesaler, not a typical Korean mart that I know. Generally those Korean products that commonly sell from dried food, instant noodles, drinks, Korean side dishes, frozen meats etc all can be find here, except it is not so organized. The lady who run the place (not sure if she's the owner) speaks mandarin but she's not local Malaysian Chinese.

3) NH Mart, Plaza Mont Kiara 농협관마트

Previously was Galaxy Korean Mart and it has become NH Mart in Nov'16. You can find imported agriculture and halal products here. It is the one and only large scale Korean Mart in Jalan Kiara so far. Located inside Plaza Mont' Kiara. Block E, Lower ground, NH Mart can be access from carpark at Level B1. They have 3 reserved parking lots for their customers (30 minutes limit time) which I like the most as sometimes it is hard to find parking at plaza MK. They always have great deal e.g. big bulk of spring onion at RM3 only, big discounts on Korean products that going to expired in a month, and so on.

4) Freshan, 163 Retail Park 프레시한

Followed by the opening of 163 Retail Park, now I have 2 Korean marts nearby. This Korean premium grocer has a different range of frozen Korean food and ready food that I have not seen in other Korean mart so far. Though it is classified as premium groceries, but the price is not overrated. Overall the price of those similar Korean products that available in other Korean marts is similar, some is cheaper when it is having promotion.

5) Ko Mart, 1 Mont'Kiara 코 마트

Despite of news about many of businesses are struggling or slow down due to Covid-19, my neighbourhood has another new Korean Grocer open last month in Feb 2021. Make it the 3rd Koran mart in Jalan Kiara~ where the other 2 are NH Mart, Plaza Mont Kiara and Freshan, 163 Retails Park. Located at Level 3 - rooftop level. Take the escalator behind the concierge to the top and you will see the Korean Mart on your left. Large scale and full of choices of imported products. Now I can do easily get what I need all in the same building (1 Mont Kiara) without have to get my Korean groceries separately from other places like before.

6) Kim's Mart, Solaris Mont Kiara 킴스마트

No. 11, Jalan Solaris 2, Solaris Mont Kiara, 50480 Kuala Lumpur

Founded in Tanjung Tokong, Penang in 2006-2007 then shifted to KL. Kim's mart has now become a large scale mart in Mont Kiara after they moved to Solaris Mont Kiara from Desa Sri Hartamas. I personally like the Kimchi they sold and assorted meat cuts for pork and beef from Korean butcher that operate inside the mart. Also can collect points from the purchase and redeem it as cash rebate anytime with any amount you earn. They also provide 30 mins reserved parking lot for customer who drive, in front of the mart.

7) K Market, Solaris Mont Kiara 케이마캣

8) Shin Sun Mi Market, Sunway Geo 신선미마캣

Shin Sun Mi, Ampang has relocated to Sunway Geo in 2020. I came here to get kimbap, japchae, tteok from their food stall several times when husband admitted in Sunway Medical Centre. The hospital block C is linked to Sunway Geo via Sunway Medical BRT station linked bridge. I could walk over under the roofed even it is rain. When the lockdown announced, He was admitted and I have no time to stock up food for home and everywhere is long queue with panic buying + ran out of stocks for essential items. Thank God I managed to get some last minute groceries such as frozen food, veggies & meat, instant noodles, even Korean side dishes without queuing long here in Shin Sun Mi Market.

9) Korean Grocer, 1 Utama Shopping Centre

G623-G625, Central Park Avenue, Bandar Utama, 47800 Petaling Jaya, Selangor

PJ is having Korean Grocer now - open by Jaya Grocer at One Utama Shopping Centre. The product variety and selections is similar to some of those we could normally seen at the Korean food section inside Jaya Grocer (or Village grocer, Isetan and etc). Compare to those Korean marts that run by Koreans at Mont Kiara, there's a different in terms of ingredients, side dishes, condiments and etc. However, those popular Korean products that commonly known by the locals is selling here. This newly open Korean Grocer is located next to the MRT station exit - a newly expanded area is named "K district" where more shops related to Korean will be open in future.
