Cafe cum Bar Council Community Library~ Barrister’s Brew, Desa Sri Hartamas

I didn't know there's actually a cafe here at the row behind Seoul Mart selling coffee at affordable price. More interesting is cafe itself is also a bar council community library run by Messrs Thomas Philip with good collections of law books for law students and practitioners. The library is FOC! Was here after have lunch at Sam Hou Bak Kut Teh and friend says lets go have coffee next doors, that's how I notice there's a cafe around the corner! Now I get it why the name of the cafe is "Barrister's Brew"~ Bar + Barista!

Kkomak Muchim (Seasoned Cockles)~ Kitchen Goheung, Solaris Mont Kiara

Bring a friend who keen to try out Korean food to my favourite Pork Bone Kimchi Stew place in Solaris Mont Kiara. The Korean restaurant located opposite the recently very popular Korean BBQ place "Sae Ma Eul" is opened since 2019. Well known among the Koreans for their Kimchi Jonggol (김치전골 Pork Bone Kimchi stew), Ganja-Tang (감자탕 Pork Bone Stew) and Kkomak Muchim (꼬막무침 seasoned cockles). Kkomak muchim what we are here for today. I also order Jumokbap (fist rice ball) to eat along with the seasoned cockles. We already knew the portion is too huge for 2 pax (best share among 3 pax). So we take home the leftover cockles and rice ball, and make it into cockles mixed rice by added some Korean sesame oil, sesame seeds and shredded seaweed. Initially the concept of the restaurant's menu is based on a "mom's recommendation". however seems like "mom" is no longer spotted in the restaurant and now the place is run by a middle aged ajeossi and his foreign workers.

Banana Leaf~ Vishal Food & Catering, Brickfields

My post covid lockdown food hunt now expanded to Indian food~ to be exact it's banana leaf that I am craving for. Head to Brickfields for banana leaf dinner at this Vishal Food & Catering specialize in Chettinad cuisine - Southern Indian cuisine. At the same time their signboard also indicated North Indian cuisine, so my guess is both northern and southern cuisine are serve here. The banana leaf meal comes with 3 veggies options - I chose the bean sprouts tofu, cumin potatoes, and dhal spinach. Also order additional Mutton Parattal, deep fried bitter gourd and papadam to share. Meanwhile my friend who wanted something light for dinner go for Thosai with 2 types of chutney. Despite feeling a bit stuffy and hot inside the restaurant that house in a old heritage building, our dining experience was good.

The staffs here seems to be mistaken I am foreigner, showing interest by asking me where I'm from and even tell me the sides on banana leaf could be spicy haha! After meal, we found out that today is Pongal (Hindu harvest festival). Now we know why the street is so crowded. Indians in family or groups gather in front of the Hindu temples after prayers. When we walk pass one of the Hindu temple in front of Vishal Food to where we park our car, a friendly temple care taker inviting us to come in and have a brief visit of the temple. He even introduce and told story of all the Hindu Goddness / deity in the temple. What a great experience, we are so lucky tonight~

Healthy brunch~ Fittie Sense, Bangsar

A friend introduce me here for a healthy brunch since I am watching my diet due to health conditions lately. It's a cafe selling healthy choice of balanced nutritious food where I get to indulge with tasty meal with fittest choice. We shared an avocado toast~ half-avocado, tomatoes, basil, sumac. coconut oil scramble 'kampung' eggs and wheat free toast; a chicken kofta shakshuka - a middle eastern dish of eggs simmered in spicy tomato sauce, where 3 types of beans is added as complex carbs and home made lamb or chicken kofte as protein; plus a dessert - coconut pudding which is gluten free and no added sugar. Also, black coffee - black coffee! Their menu with healthy choice is inspiring, the avocado toast definitely will be one of my breakfast choice at home from now on.

Regent Pandan Layer Cake, Klang

Drive all the way from KL to Klang for Bak Kut Teh as breakfast. After breakfast, we stop by at Regent to buy this Klang's famous Pandan layer cake home before we drive another 45 mins back to KL. If you ask Klang people what is recommended to get in Klang besides bak kut teh, pandan layer cake from this more than 4 decades Regent cake shop (since 1977) in Jalan Raya Timur is one of it. It is my first time trying Regent pandan layer cake and I love it. The pandan cake is jelly type with fluffy sponge layers in between. Not as sweet as I expect, just nice for my acceptance level for sweetness. Besides pandan flavour, there are also yam, corn and durian flavours.

While enjoying a slice of pandan layer cake and writing this post, I suddenly recall it resembles one of the best pandan layer cake I ever tasted during my university days. One of our classmate from Cameron Highland brought a pandan layer cake from her hometown for us to share which she claimed it's one of the best pandan layer cake in Cameron since young. Too bad I could not recall the name of the cake shop in Cameron and we have lost contact with each other after graduated from university.

Pancake Tacos & Black Coffee~ Yellow Brick Road, Plaza Batai

Second day of 2022~ a cloudy and drizzling Sunday~ Went to Yellow Brick Road at Plaza Batai for afternoon coffee. Order one of their hit pancake taco to sharing along with our black coffee - freshly made pancake fold like taco, filled with hash brown, boiled eggs, avocado, arugula and curry paprika mayo as topping. That girl and the Tin Man drawings on the wall looks so familiar for me. But I just can't recall from where I've seen it? Until my friend told me about The Wizard of OZ...Aa cloudy and drizzling today...

镛记牛腩~ Yung Gee Beef Noodle, Damansara Perdana

After had Tanglin Nasi Lemak as breakfast, continue my first day of 2022 with yummy beef noodle for late lunch at Damansara Perdana. We had various beef parts - navel, tendon, honeycomb, beef balls and soup noodles. Totally satisfying as I am a meat lover - especially those fat cuts. Same goes to my friend, who also a fatty meat lover. Glad to know there's such a good place for beef noodle in DP. Will bring my family here when they visit me.

Kuala Lumpur Night view from Bukit Damansara.

I love night views. And that's the best night view of Kuala Lumpur I ever see after living here for so long.

Tea date at night ~ Lisette's, Bangsar

A tea date at Lisette's after a night's driving out, goes round and not sure where else to go and what to do. Since I don't drink alcohol, and we avoid caffein at night; most of the time night's out yumcha will be hot chamomile tea over the talk. Love the outdoor cold breeze after the drizzling, and the calm and cozy seat we had at the corner next to the window.
