Yuzu Gozen set lunch~ Yuzu Japanese Restaurant, Suria KLCC

A very short notice and sudden move of office from The Intermark to a office building next to Petronas Twin Towers this month. First day moving into new office, went for lunch at KLCC with Chief and the building sales manager at this Yuzu Japanese restaurant recommended by Chief. I just noticed that the entire KLCC eateries are halal or pork free! Chief buying us lunch and he recommended me to take the Yuzu Gozen which he says it's worth for the value of RM59. It consists of grilled wagyu beef, sashimi, assorted sushi, tempura, chawanmushi, appetizer, pickles, salad, cut fruits, and tea pot soup. We also share an extra oven baked large oyster with white sauce and cheese. The building sales manager said she is on diet so she order a soft shell crab and salmon skin salad. The meal is really nice! Worth to come back for the lunch set when I have extra budget for lunch.

Jokbal - Korean Braised pig's trotters~ Wang Jok, Desa Sri Hartamas

During MCO, when we are not allow to travel more than 10km from home, plus no dine-in allowed. One of the Korean food delivery I order the most is Wangjok's Jokbal. Jokbal 족발 is a Korean style pig's trotters cooked with soy sauce and spices. The set I order below is Jokbal - small serving at RM65. Comes with lettuce, kimchi, pickles, onions and green chilies as well as condiments for ssam (Korean wrap). The makgoeli is not comes with the delivery. It's a gift and about to expired so decided to drink while have Jokbal. I would say they have the best Jokbal in town, so far I can't find Jokbal elsewhere except Wangjok. In fact, the place has been around in Desa Sri Hartamas more than 10 yaers. It used to located at the 1st floor of the shoplot at Jalan 22b/701 - facing the main road of Kerinchi Link. Always can spot the place whenever I drive thru going into Mon't Kiara entrance.

Before Covid break out, there's very little option when it comes to Korean food delivery. Most of the authentic Korean restaurants in my area need to be self pickup after order thru phone call. Few of them do offer deliver to doorstep with minimum spent of RM50 and above. Another option is MAPE Run - a Korean delivery service by order thru Kakaotalk or Whatapps, but it did not cover all Korean restaurants. Now we are in Covid, in order to survive, majority become available on Grab, Foodpanda etc. Minimum order has lower to the standard rate of RM15. But Korean food itself is not cheap though, easily cost RM25 for a stew. So some have seen to customized individual meal set in order to get more orders. Sincerely hope that all businesses survive thru the Covid pandemic.

Dry-Aged Angus Ribeye Steak~ The Beato Steakhouse, Publika

Delicious dry aged Angus ribeye steak for dinner at The Beato Steakhouse that well-know with nice steak in our area (or in town). I don't remember the weight of the beef cut. I remember it is above 200gm and below 300gm each, depending on the cuts available (on the board). Was happily enjoy the steak that is pinky juicy tender inside and perfect charred outside and didn't bother to remember the details. He order 2 extra sides - grilled pineapples and onions, never know that the sides serving size is way too much for 2 persons to finish. Love the soup of the day as well~ rich and creamy and yummy mushroom soup. The one and only waitress is nice and friendly, explaining to us on the beef cut and what to expect on the steak while taking order. Price wise, it is inexpensive for such quality steak. Worth for the money spent.

Korean BBQ for lunch~ BBQ Korea, Solaris Dutamas

This place was previously Sae Ma Eul. Not sure when it has change of ownership and the restaurant is now name BBQ Korea. Anyway, it is still selling Korean BBQ. The lunch menu we have is the RM69 set menu which comes with pork belly, pork shoulder and shrimp. The meat was grilled and serve by the waiter. No smelly odor on our body since it was grill at the designated corner and we are sitting at the outdoor. Not a bad idea to have Korean BBQ as lunch.

A last minute stay~ Park Avenue Hotel, Sungai Petani

An old established hotel in SP that we choose to stay for a night very last minute due to the new hotel in town that we booked has suicide case happen. The room interior still looks the same as 15 years ago (if I don't remember wrongly) in my first visit. Despite looks old fashion everything is maintaining well and clean. The window view definitely compensate everything~ beautiful Gunung Jerai view right in front from the room window. It reminds me of a song by club 8 - this is the morning.

Samgyetang~ Daorae, Desa Sri Hartamas

Today is chobok, the begin of summer in Korea. Traditionally Koreans will have samgyetang or baeksuk (boiled chicken soup) on sambok days. After work, we went for Samgyetang at a Korean restaurant nearby home. There are a few authentic Korean restaurant in Mon't Kiara that serve nice samgyetang all year long. Daorae is one of it. Having the Samgyetang, reminds me of the delicious baeksuk I had before today. Baeksuk or dak-baeksuk is a simpler version of Samgyetang where ingredients are chicken, garlic, glutinous rice and herbs while Samgyetang is made with ginseng, herbs, chestnuts and jujube. The glutinous rice that absorb all the flavours from the chicken broth is my most favourite part of baek-suk.

Miyatake Sanuki Udon~ Isetan Eat Paradise, One Utama Shopping Centre

It's been a while since my last dine in at Isetan Food Paradise. This Miyatake Sanuki Udon which open last year is the only eatery in the Food Paradise I haven't try among all. Now that banned of dine-in has removed, still feel unreal and insecure when think of the virus could be anywhere everywhere when dine-in. Anyway, manage to enjoy a bowl of beef udon with hot soy broth, spicy pork tsuke udon served with hot dipping soy broth and tempuras. We order 6 types of tempura - eggplant, mix veggie, enoki mushroom, sweet corns, sweet potato and pumpkin. The corn tempura is my favourite! So additive and decided to order one more corn tempura half way eating.

御書閣~ Monalisa Bookstore, Bukit Jalil

May 2020. A Saturday morning where I get to spent with book and coffee at a bookstore cafe during CMCO period, after being lockdown at home for more than a month. I purchased a book, order a cup of latte, and spent 2 hours here with the new book alone while waiting for him settle his work. I also had a mini size Haagen Dazs Belgium chocolate ice cream while taking a break from the reading, which I never did before; but better do what I want now cuz we don't know what will happen in the future. Probably due to CMCO, many people stay home, the bookstore is very quiet with only few patrons. The upper floor is closed so I did not get to explore. Besides coffee and cakes, they also serve meal such as unagi-don, rice dishes and spaghetti. Patron may sign up as a member to enjoy some discounts on book purchase but don't have to be a member to be here. However you need the purchase the book before you sit down and read it since it is a bookstore not a library cafe.

Viola Flower Cafe, Bukit Jalil City

March 2020. A flower cafe selling delicious Western-influenced Japanese food and good coffee. It is also an instagrammable cafe that ladies will love as the cafe is very flowery and pinky especially the flowerbed of dried lavenders hanging on top of the ceiling. However that's not the reason why I am here more than once. The creamy Curry Squid Pasta and Spicy Ebi Aglio Olio are the actual reason. I have tried some of their other menu such as Tokusei Omu Curry Rice, Chicken Katsu Curry Rice, Tori Cheesy Churros Burger and none of them disappoint so far. This place is really a hidden gem at this quiet row of shoplot in Bukit Jalil City (adjacent to the upcoming Pavilion Bukit Jalil) and only accessible via lift to third floor where the cafe is.

Bens, Suria KLCC

February 2020. Traffic jam badly after work, decided to turn into Suria KLCC and have dinner first before go home. End up at Bens for pasta (and I just had pasta with Christal during lunch lol). Wanted the sofa seats next to the window but none of it available when we walked-in. So waiter arrange us to sit at the table nearest to the window seat so we could still enjoy view outside. I had Seafood Marinara Spaghettini and he go for Hot'n'Spicy Seafood Spagettini. The waiter has warned him that the pasta could be too spicy for him to handle, so he ask to reduce the spiciness. Still he find it over spicy. Not recommended if you can't handle spicy well.
