Porchetta, Carbonara & Tiramisu~ Luretta D.O.P Italian Deli, 1 Utama Shopping Centre

Its been a long long time we didn't came to Isetan Food Paradise. Undecided what to eat yet since it is always Japanese and Korean cuisine whenever we are here, then spot this one and only Italian place~ Luretta DOP Italian Deli and without second thought we go for it. As we thought the price might burn a hole in our pocket, comes out the price is relatively unexpensive. Our Japanese ramen cost similar or even higher than their pasta. Not sure what to try, the friendly chef who is also the owner recommend us to try their signature Porchetta D.O.P which is crispy roasted pork belly served with piadina (Italian thin flatbread)  and wedges since we like pork belly! Wanted a pasta for carbo, so I chose to go for Carbonara. Simply because, Italian Carbonara is different from the cream carbonara that we used to have and he had never try it before. Last but not least, tiramisu for dessert is a must. Love their tiramisu more than the porchetta and carbonara. So smooth and creamy and rich with coffee aroma. Don't mind to come back again for tiramisu next time. Great hospitality too from the staffs and chef.

Last family dinner before pandemic hit~ Doyaji KL, Desa Parkcity

Can't believe this has become my last dinner gathering with family in KL before the Pandemic hit. As usual I back-dated the post and published with it follow the original date of picture taken. When I am writing this post, I have not see my family members nor able to go back to hometown for months due to lockdown and banned of interstate travel. It is a tough time for everyone including me. Still, I am gladful that at least we enjoy a nice meal together at this newly open Korean Jeju BBQ restaurant at Plaza Arkadia before Christmas. The restaurant is famous with Jeju pork BBQ but we did not try Jeju pork. Instead we go for the family set @ RM128 which has pork belly, pork collar, spicy pork, marinated pork, dwenjang soup and kimchi jeon since we prefer various cuts. I hope the restaurant able to survive thru the lockdown and so we could go back to try the Jeju black pork when dine-in is allowed.

Snow cheese, Soy Garlic & Yangyeom Korean Fried Chicken~ Nanda Chicken, Solaris Mont Kiara

Parents are in town and we went for Korean fried chicken again as my dad wish! This time we try Nanda Chicken's Snow Cheese Chicken (boneless crispy chicken with mozzarella cheese) and half-half of Soy Garlic Fried Chicken + Seasoned Fried chicken. If you are cheese lover, do try their snow cheese chicken. But recommended to share among 2-3 pax, as alone eating the cheesy chicken can make you feel full or too much of cheese. My parents who doesn't really like cheese said they like it. Another good place for Korean fried chicken in the neighbourhood.

Jumbo size Korean Pork Cutlet~ DJ Kitchen Buldojang, 1 Mont Kiara

If you wanted to try authentic Korean style Pork Cutlet~ Tonkatsu, this DJ Kitchen Buldojang is the right place. From the name, you may guess it is related to Buldojang Korean Chinese Restaurant that has been operate more than a decade in Desa Sri Hartamas. Wonder if this place is inspired by Kang Sikdang (Kang's Kitchen) jumbo size tonkatsu thus they served jumbo Tonkatsu? Since their opening, We had try their Jumbo Tonkatsu with their special buttery sauce. Korean style pork cutlet often serve with salad, rice and bun. Here they gave us pickles too, which Korean often look for pickles when they eat oily or rich taste western food. Second try is Donbokki which is Tteokbokki serve in Tonkatsu Bowl, also comes with deep fried sides for tteokbokki ~ rolled seaweed with glass noodles, fried fish cake and fried dumplings. Mind you, it is for 2 servings but even big eater like me also find it too huge for 2 persons to finish. Also had their Jjampong, since they also serve their Buldojang signature dishes~ jajjangmyeon and jjampong, which comes in 3 serving size - S, M & L. In my opinion, S size is good enough for 1 serving. M size is similar to 1.5 pax serving.

苹果三层肉~ Apple Samgyupsal, Jaya One, Petaling Jaya

Parents in town again over the weekend. Since they always ask for Korean BBQ whenever they visit, and we have brought them to those Korean BBQ places which we've tried and we think it is worth to go. This time we choose to try out this Apple Samgyeopsal that we never been before but just based on reviews from others. Origin from Incheon Korea with 2 branches in Seoul (Gangnam and Bundang), they are famous with thick cut apple wood smoked meats and apple wraps~ however we didn't aware that our BBQ Sharing set doesn't include the apple wrap (the servers were all foreign workers and the one who attended to us did not mentioned anything at all...) so we missed out chance to try the signature apple wrap...

Despite no apple wrap, the refillable banchan (especially the veggies for wrap) are good enough to go with the meat! Our sharing set comes with Wang-galbi, original samgyeopsal, marinated moksal (neck meat), tteok (rice cakes), homemade sausages and bulgogi (we can choose either bulgogi or spicy baby octopus). The meat is marinated overnight in apple sauce then smoked with apple wood chips to lock the meat flavour and juice is really not disappointing! Ramyeon is unlimited refill and it's our favourite ramyeon~ Jin Ramyeon (spicy and mild spicy) to be choose. Worth giving a try again next time with the apple wraps that we missed out today.

Today no coffee break but lunch to bid farewell to PS together with LC, friends from co-working space. We had pasta vongole, grilled three cheese (cheddar, gouda & mozzarella) sandwich and croissant with turkey ham and cheese. Going to miss my lunch partner PS a lot after she left ~
