October 2012. Macau. So we missed our flight in the morning and arrived Macau late evening after taking next flight in the afternoon. On the way to our hotel in Macau central district from Airport, we passed by The Venitian Macau and Macau Tower and briefly see it with our eyes as we going to give missed and ditch Taipa from our plan this trip.
After check in to our hotel room, we begin to walk to Ruins of St. Paul's direction which is also the central district of Macau. Just right outside of our hotel - Sofitel, pawn shops can be seen lined up everywhere! That leaves a strong impression to me even before those heritage buildings and churches.
While on our way to Senado Square and Grand Lisboa, we stop by Yee Shun Milk Company to fill our hunger. Order a double skin steamed milk, a pork chop bun and a ham and cheese sandwich to share. The steamed milk (pudding) is not as wow as expected, but can give a try since a signature dish of HK / Macau. The pork chop bun and ham and cheese sandwich are not only dry, also thin and skinny than the bun and sandwich bread + not cheap as well. Not recommended to be honest. guess they are only good at steamed milk pudding.
After meal, we walked to Grand Lisboa (which I blog in previous post), then turn back to Largo do Senaro (Senado Square) where Ruins of St Paul is. If it wasn't because of those Chinese wording, Chinese lanterns and Chinese faces everywhere, you probably think you were at Portugal with those Portuguese influence architecture buildings, courtyard, cobblestone path and surrounds with Catholic churches. There are 17 old churches and cathedrals that built more than four and a half centuries ago and 14 of them are in the central district of Macau. I wish I have time to check it out one by one. Maybe I need to make another trip to Macau again with longer stay next time.

On the way walk back to hotel, we stop by to takeway beef offal from this roadside stall run by a couple named 澳门明记牛杂美食 Ming kee beef offal with queues when we passed by earlier. We waited about 15 to 20 mins for our order to be ready. Besides beef offal e.g. triple, tendon, intestine, meatballs (which we takeaway), there are also other variety such as lapcheong, chicken feet, beancurd skin even veggies. As the beef offal is keep boiling in broth, we can constantly smell herb broth which is similar to the beef noodle that selling in Malaysia. We also tried the herbal tea from road side stall, it is not much different from those selling in Malaysia. The familiary and similarity makes me feel like I am not in Macau but in Malaysia. End of our day 1 in Macau with beef offal as our supper in our hotel room.
