Zhang Lala Mee Tarik, Plaza Damas

More and more Lanzhou la mien (mee tarik) restaurant open in KL~ from the one I first see it in Jalan Sultan, then Chow Kit, Bukit Bintang, Wisma central and more afterwards, now Plaza Damas is having one too~ at the corner lot which Le Cafe Marcel used to be (so sad Le Cafe Marcel cannot make it thru the covid pandemic). Anyway, same as other Lanzhou mee tarik, this newly open Zhang Lala Mee tarik is also reasonable price. Order a Beef mix soup @ RM17 which I find it not so worth it. The portion of beef serve is like the portion of meat in a bowl Lanzhou la mien but without the noodle, but same price. Better order Lanzhou la mien next time. BBQ Capelin Fish @ RM13 is good and crisp, I savoring it every mouthful. Surprise to see the scallion pancake @ RM14 come in big portion. As I thought I cannot finish it but somehow I clear all as that bowl of mix beef soup is not enough to fill my tummy haha!

National Textiles Museum (Muzium Tekstil Negara), Jalan Sultan Hishamuddin

Newly added National Textile Museum into my Museum list during Chinese New Year when I was doing the heritage walk with my sister and her family. The museum is housed in the heritage building designed by Arthur Benison Hubback in an Indo-Saracenic Revival architecture. Built in 1905, the building was headquarters for the FMSR - Federated Malay States Railways (now KTM) until 1917. After FMSR moved, the building subsequently occupied by various government departments and financial institutions -- Selangor Public Works department, Selangor Water Department, Central Bank Malaysia, Agricultural Bank of Malaysia, Malaysian Craft and High Court before it converted into National Textile Museum and opens for public on 9 January 2010. The building is officially designated as JKR Building 26 and it was gazetted as a historical building in 1983.

National textile museum has 4 galleries. Started with Pohon Budi Gallery which showcases the origins of textiles from the pre-historic times as well as its growth through trade. Follow by Pelangi Gallery which is my personal favourite~ exhibits some of the selected heritage collections such as the different types of batiks and their growth over the years, the collection of the Chinese community, and those of the Baba and Nyonya, which are rich with their use of silk and gold threads and beadings, as well as the profusely fine and varied motifs of ethnic Sarawakian and Sabahan textile collections. While Teluk Berantai Galery exhibits the richness, finesse and beauty of the Malay heritage collections. such as tekatan (gold embroidery).woven fabrics and limar. And lastly Ratna Sari Gallery exhibits jewelry items and personal adornments of the various ethnic groups in Malaysia made of gold, silver, copper, beads and plants, which are designed to be worn on the various parts of the body, from head to toe.

BHC Chicken, 163 Retail Park, Mont Kiara

When BHC newly open in Nov 2022 in 163 Retail Park. I've already give a try of their Bburinkle & Hot Bburinkle half & half combo - one of their signature flavours with crunchy crispy fried chicken coated with cheesy veggie flavour seasoning. At that time they only have limited selection~ the Bburinkle series or Retro (classic style) where u can choose spicy or non spicy version. Now happy to see that they have more choices in their menu! It's my belated birthday treat lunch from brother today. So four of us including my parents who just arrived in KL to celebrate CNY with us happily enjoy BHC chickens as our late lunch~ Padak and Macho cheesedak with red king sauce.

It's been more than 8 or 9 years since I last eaten BHC chicken in Korea, but I can tell BHC Chicken in Malaysia is very similar with the BHC Chicken I ate in Korea. Price wise, nowadays it cost RM80 after tax for a whole chicken (3-4 servings average). Sincerely hope they will stay longer in the market, don't get disappear from 163 like Nene (now left only 1 outlet in Wangsa Walk); and the BBQ Chicken that used to be my favourite since they opened in 2008 in Penang (now still have 2 outlets in KL).

My first Danish meal~ DenHygge, Empire Damansara

I thought I will be alone spending my CNY eve as my family members only arrive tomorrow's noon to spend CNY with me in KL. Didn't expect I got a last minute lunch date with Danish food, what a pleasant surprise. It's my first time try out Danish food at this cozy and homey feel 'DenHygge' runs and owns by a friendly Danish native chef & his Russian wife. Friend and I go for the Special CNY Plate where we can taste many variations in one plate. Gravlax (cured salmon) with Fox Sauce; hard boiled egg with a spread of mayo topped with shrimps & caviar; roast beef with pickled mayo & fried onion; fried fish fillet with pickled mayo; fried pork belly (similar to Siu-yuk) with pickled cucumber & red cabbage; and pork liver pate with pickled cucumber & fried bacon is my favourite among all and it taste like spam. Rugbrød - the Danish rye bread that served with butter can be really filling with just 1 to 2 slices. We enjoy the plate with a glass of Upside Down Sauvignon Blanc, also enjoy our after meal black coffee.
