One fine Saturday at REXKL, Jalan Sultan

One fine Saturday before November end. Also the first outing after self-lockdown for several months. Initially came here for a cup of coffee after brunch. Later surprise to find out REXKL has a lot of hidden gem to be discover. I read about the building was one of the first and oldest theatres since 1947, closed down after fire happened twice. Until lately it was rebuilt again and turn into an arts and cultural hub. The restoration lead by a group of well-known local architects which includes Seksan of Sekeping retreats (which I know of). The mazed-like-bookstore BookXcess at the top floor will stunned you with it's architecture and design. Friend who brought me here for coffee didn't know bout the bookstore. The food vendors at the back of the ground floor has creative names for their shop or stall. I will revisit again for the foods.

Cheapest Penang Curry Mee & Hokkien Mee in town~ Lim Sisters, Taman Sri Bintang

Can you believe that RM4 Curry mee and Hokkien mee still exists today? More unbelievable is the it has everything that a authentic Penang curry mee and Hokkien mee has including the taste of Penang! Portion could be small - I actually finish it in few bites haha. For my neighbour who is a light eater the portion is just nice for breakfast. Look at the 'liao' and you will agree it's value for the money and the waits! Even an extra top-up of cheong for neighbour's hokkien mee just cost a little bit more, not even double of RM4. Besides the cheapest Pg curry mee / Hokkien mee in town, the kopitiam queue and ordering system amazed me too. Patrons needs to queue and wait to be seated at the entrance, the staff will give you a plastic cup with the table number assigned to you once the table is ready. Not to mentioned they strictly follow the control measure of covid pandemic. It's just short driving distance from Mont Kiara. As the koptiam is located at a corner lot of shoplot at the edge of Taman Sri Bintang, Segambut, bordering with Kepong (Kepong primary is next to it); Hence some people might refer it as Lim Sisters Kepong.

A book by Baek Sehee~ I want to die but I want to eat Tteokbokki 죽고싶지만 떡볶이는먹고싶어

Picking up reading as my hobby again during lockdown. Kinokuniya has became the most frequent going place during lunch hours to look for the books that I want to read. Today I bought this book as recommended by therapist. The book is a record of 3 months conversations between the author and her psychiatrist about her 'mild' depression. Not a book or guide to heal depression. But more to a record about her depression, where you may find similarity or some of your situations and emotions resemble to the author's. And you know that you are not alone...

The day I removed moles~ Lee Sin Sang, Jalan Sultan

For many years I have been wanted to remove moles on my face but I was afraid of laser treatment or chemical products are use for mole removal therefore it never happen. Until a reporter friend recommend me Lee Sin Sang who are using traditional way for mole removal, and with a long history of more than 50 years in Jalan Sultan. I've save it in my to-do-list for 2019 but it delays due to busy with work. Then covid hit in 2020. After several lockdowns, I finally make it happen before 2021 end. The building where Lee Sin Sang located is so old (like old Hong Kong for me). However the surrounding is very clean and neat despite old fashioned. It seems quiet when walking at this old corridor but it is safe. There's a guard stationed at the main entrance, screening the visitors and guide me where to go to find Lee Sin Sang.

It is recommended to call up to make appointment before walk in. A fee of RM20 will be charge for consultation, if I did not carry out the mole removal. However, this RM20 will be waive off if I proceed for the removal procedure. The place is run by Lee Sin Sang and his family members together - his wife, son and daughter - total 4 of them. There are four consultation chairs and all of them were around when I was there. I was consulted by the daughter, she is friendly, gentle and explain everything in details. She first point out where are the moles located and let me know whether it is a good or a bad one in fengshui. In my case I have no "good" moles, so it's up to me if I want to keep or remove the one I prefer. I chose to remove all.

I never know I have so many moles on my face (even though I am looking at my face everyday). The 2 moles that slowly turn into warts recent years is my biggest concern. After checking and confirm it is safe to be remove, I am so relief that finally I can get rid of it. The mole removal process is fast and painless just like the reviews I read. I closed my eyes all the time and all I can feel is she is gently poke on the mole area with toothpick few times, but no pain at all. While for the warts, it's a different process as it needs to be "burn off". I was told that I will feel like mild prickling, but in actual situation, I feels like there is a heat or fire gets very close to my skin where the warts is. I can smell it is burnt after a heat touch on it (my nose is cover by cottons pads so I don't inhale the smoke). Except for the first "burn" I am so anxious as I don't know what to expect. The second, third and fourth times I am totally fine with it (at least 2 burns for 1 warts as what I remember). All done in about 1 hour and total cost is RM390 for removal of 7 moles and 2 warts, with a touch up 2 months later and 6 months guarantee. A bit pricey than I expect, but I personally find it worth.

After the mole removal, I find my self looks funny with burn marks all over my face haha! That's what happen when I want to remove all at the same time. Luckily it's cover up after I wear face mask. After the mole removal, the first 7 days it is advice to wash face with clean water only. Facial wash, skincare and makeup are not allowed as it might affect the result. Avoid eating certain food to prevent scar develop at where warts were "burn-off". One week later, the black marks faded and so much lighter. I have one mole that exists since young (I was told that it can only reduce by 70% after the removal), now it turns into a tiny dot, more than 90% reduce for me and I am super happy with that. The spot where warts removed has no scar or damage, looks a little bit translucent since it's new skin that grow up. As time goes by, the skin tone will be even. I hope my experience here can let you have a better understanding bout the process before you go for it.

Croissant Taiyaki, Pavilion Kuala Lumpur

Suddenly I miss 붕어빵 Bungeo-ppang~ the fish shaped pastry that stuffed with hot sweetened red bean paste or cream custard selling at the street food stall during winters! It's only 1,000 won for 3pcs and I normally will get half dozen of 2 classic flavours. It's not easy to find Bungeoppang here in KL, so far I only discover one Korean cafe selling it many years ago. As Bungeoppang is originated from the Japanese Taiyaki~ I decided to search for Taiyaki and happy to discover there's one in Pavilion. They have 4 flavours available at this moment including my favourite class flavours~ azuki red bean vanilla custard. Grab one each at RM7.50 x 2 = RM15 and enjoy it at the office as tea time. Something that cheer me up a little in my quiet office while many still choose to work from home.

Another Korean convenient store in neighbourhood~ emart24, Desa Sri Hartamas

So happy that one of the emart 24 open in the neighbourhood. Although it is not so short walking distance from my place but its still within the neighbourhood area. One thing about these famous Korean convenient store that open in Malaysia is, they don't sell most of the things and products that available in Korea. I do understand it is due to different supply and market demands. Plus, some of the food that I like could be non-halal. Anyway emart24 is having different product range compared to the newly open CU near my office and Family Mart. My favourite items from the store is the Purple Sweet Potato Chips from No Brand. No brand is the sub-brand from E-Mart, their products especially snacks are popular not only among the Koreans but also tourist who visit Korea.
