June 2015. This is my mom's nyonya sambal we loved and it goes well with many dish. From simple steamed veggie dish such as steamed lady fingers, to fried beeehon, fried rice even just with plain white rice I can finish the rice just with the sambal alone. Finally today I decided to ask my mom for the recipe over the phone and so that I can make myself whenever I crave for it~
50g dried shrimp
10 shallots
8 garlic cloves
5 red chilies
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 tablespoon sugar
How to cook:
Step 1
Blend dried shrimp, shallots, garlic cloves and red chilies in the blender into fine paste.

Heat up 50ml cooking oil in the non stick pan / wok. Sauté the blended ingredients over a low heat until fragrant for about 5 minutes.

Add 1 teaspoon of salt and 1/2 tablespoon of sugar, stir well and continue to cook for another 5 minutes until aromatic (or color turns brown) and it is ready to serve.
